Love & Light, a line of bath salts and scrubs, is the latest business venture of artist/designer/entrepreneur Jeri Warlick of Little Rock.

— Jeri Warlick, a Little Rock artist and designer, announces Love & Light, her new line of body salts and scrubs. The eight-blend line includes Luna Love (lavender) and seven blends named for the body’s seven chakras (defined by thefreeonlinedictionary.com as “centers of spiritual energy in the human body, according to yoga philosophy”): Root Chakra (cedar and cloves); Solar Plexus (sandalwood and orange); Naral (lavender and rosemary); Heart (jasmine and rose); Throat (peppermint and eucalyptus); Third Eye (clary sage and lavender); and Crown (sandalwood and patchouli). I tried the Solar Plexus scrub and enjoyed its subtle scent and combination of gentle exfoliation and skin-pampering oil.

Products include a 1-pound brown bag (salts only), $11; a small apothecary jar, $17 for scrubs and $15 for salts; a half-liter hinged Italian glass jar, $29 for scrubs and $27 for salts; and “Li’l Happy Sizes,” 4 ounces each (minimum 10), $2.75 each for salts, $3.75 each for scrubs.

All items are carefully hand-packed in the brown bags, jars and bottles by Warlick and her daughter, and bear tags featuring their whimsical calligraphy.

Love & Light products are available at The Green Corner Store near downtown Little Rock; Box Turtle and Shoppes on Woodlawn in Little Rock’s Hillcrest neighborhood; and The Galaxy in North Little Rock’s downtown Argenta district. Warlick hopes to introduce the line at Whole Foods later in the spring.

Products may also be ordered by e-mailing quantity and selections to jwarlick_warlick@yahoo.com. (Wholesale prices are also available with a $100 minimum order.) Include a phone number and a wholesale number.

Warlick plans to use portions of her profits to fund micro-loans to other women who are entrepreneurs. For more information, search for “Love & Light Salts & Scrubs” at facebook.com.

THE ANTISCRUB

Speaking of body scrubs, here’s one that’s a bit different.

Infinity Sun Exfoliating Skin Renewal hails from the Beverly Hills, Calif.-based Infinity Sun, which combines all-natural, anti-aging, sunless tanning and high-end beauty treatments. The exfoliant veers from the traditional in that it goes on like a lotion, “masking” the skin for up to five minutes, before washing away in the shower or bath. Designed for weekly use, it contains the natural, nonabrasive pineapple fruit enzyme Bromelain. In addition to its skin-smoothing qualities, it bears an appealing tropical scent. Infinity Sun Exfoliating Skin Renewal is $35 at infinitysun.com and from other online beauty-product purveyors.

THRIFT STORE CLOSES

After more than 40 years, The Salvation Army Thrift Store, at the corner of 65th Street and Geyer Springs Road in southwest Little Rock, closed its doors at the end of business Saturday. The Salvation Army is currently seeking a new location to reopen the store, as its original location was in an area that has become more industrial over the past several years and attracts fewer shoppers, and in a building that had fallen into “severe disrepair,” according to a news release.

“We will continue to serve the community with free clothing through community collaborations,” Maj. James Taylor, Central Arkansas Area Commander for The Salvation Army, states in the release. Goodwill Industries of Arkansas is partnering with the agency so that it can continue to provide clients with clothing.

PLAYING THE PONIES

Ralph Lauren Fragrances has introduced The Big Pony Collection for Women, “a colorful and energetic fragrance wardrobe celebrating the sporty, sensual, free-spirited and stylish attributes of modern, multifaceted women.” It made its debut in March at RalphLauren.com and Ralph Lauren retail locations, and appears this month in other fine department stores.

Divided into numbers and colors: 1 (blue — light and breezy), 2 (pink — sensual and spicy), 3 (yellow — bright and refreshing) and 4 (purple — bold and glamorous), the fragrances are $19-$70, each according to size. (Dillards. com offers the fragrances for $35-$67.50, plus a four-fragrance gift set for $45.)

In conjunction with the set is Big Pony Women’s Fashion, including jeans and miniskirts featuring an oversized version of the polo-pony icon on the back pocket; new Big Pony polos; and striped belts, all of which coordinate with the fragrance colors.
