The new recycling program begins today in Little Rock.
Collection for many residents starts this week, with the Highway 10 area first this morning. This includes Pinnacle Valley, Rahlin Road, Chenal Valley and Rivercrest.
The new program includes a new receptacle that green with a yellow lid and handy instructions for what items can be recycled. Those opting for a smaller container can call 311 to get a different cart. Residents can keep the original green bin, or include it to be recycled as well.
In addition, many new items can be recycled, including pots and pans, empty aerosol cans and laundry baskets.
These items can be tossed into the cart and don't have to be separated. Shredded paper, however, needs to be put in tied-off clear bags before going into the cart.
Recyclables will be picked up every other week on the same day as the scheduled trash pickup for a given neighborhood.
