Blytheville aviation facility seeks new customers

— Officials at Aviation Repair Technologies at the Blytheville Aeroplex are hopeful they’ll be able to recall laid-off workers by the end of this year.

President and CEO Ben Quevedo says the company is branching out into parts repair for aircraft. Quevedo tells Jonesboro television station KAIT that the company has been struggling to find customers after losing business from American Eagle, a regional carrier for American Airlines.

Quevedo says the company would like to specialize in Bombardier regional jets and their parts. But officials note the facility can handle any size of aircraft part — from small regional planes to wide-body aircraft.

The facility now has 90 employees. Quevedo says he’s hopeful to bring that number up to 200 or 225 by the end of the year.
