Children's Hospital unveils childhood obesity prevention program

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Children's Hospital Research Institute announced a new program that will be aimed at reducing childhood obesity.
The initiative was introduced at a Wednesday afternoon news conference at the Brandon Center/South Campus building at the Arkansas Children's Nutrition Center.
The new program will mesh a number of research projects, including the USDA's Garden Study in Arkansas middle schools to the GLOWING study on mother's diets and health influence and how they correlate to a child's growth and development.
The program will serve as a state authority for preventing childhood obesity.

This is a great idea. Of course if we made our children ACTUALLY get off the couch, turn off the TV and PS3, and send them outside to play without twinkies in each hand "incase" they get hungry then that'd probably fix MOST of the issue..

The schools have SEVERELY cut back on PE activities. With all the sitting around pounding carbs and NOT getting off their buts and moving there's NO WONDER it's become a problem.
