Crews search the Arkansas River after a reported jumping from the I-430 bridge.

— Officials with the Pulaski County sheriff's office confirmed Friday afternoon that they have recovered a body from the Arkansas River.

PCSO spokesman Lt. Carl Minden said authorities retrieved the body around 2:45 p.m.

Although they cannot yet confirm the identity of the recovered body, Minden said it was found in the vicinity of where a 13-year-old boy exited a car and jumped off the Interstate 430 bridge Wednesday afternoon.

Minden added in a release that the body matches the physical and clothing description of the boy.

Authorities with the sheriff's office, North Little Rock police and other authorities have been searching the water since Wednesday afternoon for the youth, who was being taken to a behavioral health facility at the time of the incident.

Authorities said Wednesday afternoon that the boy purportedly told the relative who was driving him that he would exit the moving vehicle if she didn't pull over. The relative pulled over, and the boy left the vehicle.

Witnesses say they saw the boy jump from the bridge, and some on shore reported seeing him holding onto a pillar beneath the bridge. Authorities said Wednesday the boy could not swim well, and no witnesses saw him swim to shore.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of this accident, no matter who it is, especially if it is the family of the young man who witness saw jump off the bridge Wednesday afternoon. The young man obviously had some personal issues, and from my own personal experience in issues similar to this one, I know the family was doing what they felt was the best option at this time. Life is so precious, and none of us should sit in judgment of another, even though we may have gone through something like this, and took different action. My prayer is that God will provide every person affected with a peace that passes ALL understanding, and that the family find, and participate in a grief counseling support group. You are not in this alone!

"quiet4us2": and you just showed us how stupid you are. There are circumstances beyond your imagination if this is the 13 year old. You should be on your knees thanking God you're not in those circumstances. Where is your compassion???? I pity you!

Our hearts go out to the family of this poor young man. And, we quite agree that stupid comments have no place here. It is NOT our place to judge. Many sympathies to those involved.
