— Officials with the Pulaski County sheriff's office confirmed Friday afternoon that they have recovered a body from the Arkansas River.

PCSO spokesman Lt. Carl Minden said authorities retrieved the body around 2:45 p.m.

Although they cannot yet confirm the identity of the recovered body, Minden said it was found in the vicinity of where a 13-year-old boy exited a car and jumped off the Interstate 430 bridge Wednesday afternoon.

Minden added in a release that the body matches the physical and clothing description of the boy.

Authorities with the sheriff's office, North Little Rock police and other authorities have been searching the water since Wednesday afternoon for the youth, who was being taken to a behavioral health facility at the time of the incident.

Authorities said Wednesday afternoon that the boy purportedly told the relative who was driving him that he would exit the moving vehicle if she didn't pull over. The relative pulled over, and the boy left the vehicle.

Witnesses say they saw the boy jump from the bridge, and some on shore reported seeing him holding onto a pillar beneath the bridge. Authorities said Wednesday the boy could not swim well, and no witnesses saw him swim to shore.
