LITTLE ROCK There’s no settlement in a federal lawsuit filed by the family of a man who was fatally shot when two off-duty Little Rock police officers checked on him at his apartment.
Lawyers for the officers and for two sons of Eugene Ellison met with a judge Wednesday for four hours but came to no resolution.
Police said after Ellison was killed in 2010 that two officers were working security at an apartment complex and entered Ellison’s apartment to check on him. The officers said Ellison attacked them and one drew her pistol and shot him.
One of Ellison’s sons is a Little Rock police officer and another teaches criminal justice in Texas. They have asked the Justice Department to investigate and also sued the city and the apartment complex.
