LITTLE ROCK — Johnny M. Moore
Where I live: My wife, Sequoyah, and I live in a west Little Rock subdivision, Villages of Wellington, with our son Johnathan, 7, and our daughter Jayna, 1. We recently relocated to Little Rock from Tyler, Texas.
Occupation: This summer I became the 13th president of my alma mater, Philander Smith College, a small, private, historically black, four-year liberal arts college affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Years ago, I came to Philander Smith College as a student-athlete whose primary goal was to play basketball, but I left as an educated, well-rounded man ready for the world.
My favorite space: It is my home office/study space.
Why: It is a place where I can minimize all distractions. As a new college president with numerous demands for my attention, I use the space for quiet and reflection - no TV or phone calls - to get caught up on reading material for work, to read books or to do the same on my iPad.
If I could change one thing to improve this space, I would: As a numbers guy, it should come as no surprise that I would increase the size of the room!
