LITTLE ROCK — Irma and Dr. Roosevelt Brown of Little Rock celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday at Union African Methodist Episcopal Church by renewing their wedding vows. The couple were married Dec. 23, 1962. She is the former Irma Hunter and is a retired president of Shorter Junior College and a former state representative and former state senator. He is a doctor of dental surgery. They are the parents of Roesetta Brown Coleman of Little Rock and have three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Hildegard and Dr. Jerome Sherman of Little Rock will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Wednesday evening at Riverfront Steakhouse. The couple were married Dec. 26, 1952. She is the former Hildegard Schroeder and a retired teacher. He is a retired professor from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. They are the parents of Karen Sherman of Chaseburg, Wis.; Marc Sherman of Little Rock; and Keith Sherman of Plano, Texas. The couple have six grandchildren.

BRYANT - Jean and Harlon Sory will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 30 at First Southern Baptist Church with friends and family. The couple were married Dec. 28, 1952. She is the former Jean Hays and a retired dental assistant. He is retired from the Little Rock human resources office of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. They are the parents of Brenda Sory of Baton Rouge and Kenneth Sory of Bryant. The couple have four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Frankie and Oddis Nelson of Little Rock celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 15 with a reception in the ballroom of LaQuinta Inn and Suites. The couple were married Dec. 14, 1962. She is the former Frankie Scott and a retired registered head nurse for the Eugene J. Towbin Healthcare Center, North Little Rock. He is a retired dialysis technician for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. They are the parents of Cheryl Mickles and Angela Nelson-Bell, both of Little Rock.

MARIANNA - Marcelle and Ed Brown will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at Marianna Country Club and at noon Dec. 30 with a reception at the Presbyterian Church. The couple were married Jan 1, 1953. She is the former Marcelle McClintock and a retired newspaper editor. He is a retired laundry and cleaners owner. They are the parents of Dr. Larry Brown of Batesville, Janet Northcutt of Forrest City and Pat Brown of Houston. The couple have 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

WHITE HALL - Johnita and Walter “Ham” Waddle will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary next spring with a cruise of the Hawaiian Islands. The couple were married Dec. 21, 1962. She is the former Johnita Roberts and retired from teaching third grade at Watson Chapel schools. He retired as a firefighter from the Pine Bluff Arsenal. They are the parents of Keith Waddle and Karee Chapman, both of Pine Bluff. The couple have three grandchildren.

Carolyn and Krikor Muradian of Little Rock celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 8 with dinner at Arthur's Steakhouse. The couple were married Dec. 8, 1962. She is the former Carolyn Allen. He is founder and a principal broker at Muradian Business Opportunities. They are the parents of Barbara Traina of Chicago; Maro Foster and Keree Muradian, both of Benton; and Sona Elliott of Little Rock. The couple have 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

MARSHALL - Joyce and Edward Tudor will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 30 at the Marshall Senior Center. The couple were married Dec. 30, 1962. He is a retired newspaper publisher and owner. They are the parents of six children and have 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

ARKADELPHIA - Bettie and Ray Duke will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple were married Dec. 28, 1962. She is the former Bettie Rateliff and retired from Ouachita Baptist University. He is retired from the building supply and waste management business. They are the parents of Dana Duke Spickes and Christy Duke Russell, both of Rogers; and Ken Duke of Palm City, Fla. The couple have eight grandchildren.

DANVILLE - Ruth and James Van Zandt have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. The couple were married Dec. 19, 1952. She is the former Ruth Smith and a retired secretary. He is retired from air traffic control with the Federal Aviation Administration. They are the parents of Richard Van Zandt of Bryant and Alan Van Zandt of Newport News, Va. The couple have two grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Joan and Bob Franks of Sherwood have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple were married Dec. 22, 1962. She is the former Joan Stallcup. He recently retired after working for 50 years mostly in the store fixture business. They are the parents of Jana Franks and Angie Seaton, both of North Little Rock. The couple have two grandchildren.

GURDON - Emogene and Buddy Allen celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at home with their family. The couple were married Dec. 12, 1947. She is the former Emogene Halsey. He is retired from Reynolds Metals Co. They are the parents of James R. Allen of Hot Springs and Marianne Roe of Arkadelphia. The couple have four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

CLINTON - Janet and Dewey Bruce will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Clinton Senior Center. The couple were married Dec. 27, 1962. She is the former Janet Wilson and a retired medical secretary. He is a retired truck driver. They are the parents of Paula Cowsert of Clinton and Terry Bruce of Atlanta. The couple have four grandchildren.
