Main attractions: The historic Capitol grounds boast several impressive statues and memorials, but during the holidays, it’s the magnificent tree in the rotunda that’s the main draw.
Hazards: The occasional politician lurking in the hallways.
Special hours: The Capitol has extended hours during the holidays: 7 a.m.
to 9 p.m. weekdays; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekends.
Dog, bike, tyke friendly?
This is a great walk for family and to impress out-of-town visitors, but leave the bikes and dogs at home. Small fry will love all the sparkly colors.
