BLYTHEVILLE — A prosecutor has the results of a 10-month state and federal investigation into withholding taxes that weren't paid by Blytheville city officials.
Prosecutor Scott Ellington says he received the file Monday and will decide on any charges.
Ellington asked for the investigation in February, after a state audit showed $2.9 million in errors in the city's general fund and problems with entries for $318,000 in spending from the city's street fund.
The Jonesboro Sun reports the audit also noted at least $3.8 million in unpaid taxes and penalties owed to the Internal Revenue Service as of September 2011.
The matter was investigated by state police and the FBI.
In March, voters approved a 15-month, 1 cent sales tax to help pay the tax debt.
