Murphy Oil Corp. announced Wednesday that its subsidiary Murphy Oil USA Inc. has entered an agreement with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. to build more than 200 new fuel stations at Wal-Mart supercenters.

The construction, expected to be completed over the next three years, will be at locations in the Midwest and the southeast United States, Murphy Oil said.

“This agreement represents a significant step forward in our long-term relationship with Wal-Mart as we pursue our business plan to separate the U.S. retail business into a stand-alone entity,” Murphy Oil President and Chief Executive Officer Steven Cosse said in a statement.

The company announced in October that it will spin off its retail gasoline business next year, which will separate its retail business from its exploration and production operations.
