Maid and valet win contest At Downton Abbey party

— More people dressed in the Edwardian costumes of the lord and lady of the manor than the tidy house staff uniforms of the folks who work “downstairs,” but it was a maid and a valet who placed first in the costume contest Dec. 19 at the Little Rock preview of Downton Abbey’s new season.

Won by sister and brother Laura Landers and Josh Landers, the contest was part of a fundraiser by the Arkansas Educational Television Network Foundation. The event at the Argenta Community Theater began with a Jazz Age cocktail reception followed by a special viewing of the third season premiere, set to air on AETN Jan. 6.

In addition to finding out the status of Mr. Bates’ unjust incarceration, guests wereable to pose for pictures in front a backdrop of the manor house that portrays Downton Abbey in the series and to enjoy music by Simona, a duowith musicians Mike Voder and Simona Donova.

The AETN Foundation helps in raising money to support the network’s mission ofenhancing lives through trusted public television programs and educational services.
