— LAYHER NATURE TRAIL AT BAYOU BARTHOLOMEW

Location: Interstate 530, Exit 42 (Hazel Street) in Pine Bluff. Short gravel road to trailhead is 100 yards north of interstate on east side of Hazel.

Length: It’s an easy, well-maintained, 1.8-mile gravel trail along the world’s longest bayou.

Main attractions: A great place to watch wildlife along the bayou, past ponds, across marshes and through bottomland forest. Take your camera.

Hazards: Extra buggy in season.

No hazard, but interstate noise can be distracting on the south side.

Amenities: Parking only.

Dog, bike, tyke friendly? No pets; no bikes. Kids will love the wildlife observation areas.
