Potter party

The Central Arkansas Library System will put on a “Harry Potter Party” at 6:30 p.m. today at its Main Library, 100 Rock St., Little Rock.

The party, in conjunction with “Harry Potter’s World,” a traveling exhibit on display through Aug. 11,will feature Harry Potter-related activities for children, teens and adults on each of the library’s five floors.

Partygoers can be sorted into Hogwarts houses, earn house points, watch Quidditch players, make wands, cast spells and play trivia games or wizards’ chess. Prose Garden, the library’s fifth-floor cafe, will offer special Harry Potter items during the party, including Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Smoothies and Rock Cakes.

Madeline auditions

The Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre will hold auditions for actors age 7 and up for Madeline and the Gypsies (adapted by Barry Kornhauser from the book by Ludwig Bemelmans, with music by Michael Koerner) at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Arts Center in MacArthur Park, 10th and Commerce streets, Little Rock.

The auditions require neither an appointment nor prepared material. Take a small current photo and wear comfortable clothing and shoes to move and dance in.
