LITTLE ROCK — A 5.6-mile widening project on U.S. 167 in Dallas and Cleveland counties tops a list of 37 highway and road construction bids awarded by the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department on Wednesday morning.
The $29 million project was among $62 million granted to contractors for construction and improvements to Arkansas roadways, according to the Highway Department.
Construction crews will build a mile-long $7.6 million railroad overpass on Arkansas 18 near Blytheville, and another firm will undertake a $6.6 million widening of Centerton Boulevard in Centerton from two to three lanes.
Among other notable bids announced were:
$3.39 million to mill and inlay seven miles of Interstate 40 in Franklin County.
$1.7 million for the widening and reconstruction of two miles of pavement on Arkansas 213 in Conway County.
$1.7 million for the installation of wire rope safety fencing along parts of a nine mile stretch of Interstate 40 between the Monroe County line and Goodwin in St. Francis County.
$1.3 million to replace a bridge on Arkansas 21 in Carroll County.
$1 million for the overlay of four miles of Arkansas 27 in Montgomery County.
$1 million project for the overlay of nearly three miles of Highways 79B and 190 in Jefferson County.
