ZETA MONEE BRATTON, 86, of Little Rock, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012. She was born May 5, 1926, in Kingsland, Arkansas to Sam and Azzie Burford. She worked and retired from Fairfield Communities Inc. after 23 years and was a longtime member of Markham Street Baptist Church. In retirement she enjoyed quilting, knitting, sewing, working in her garden and most of all, spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings, Houston Burford, Ulyss Burford, Erma Lou Rogers, Maurice Burford, and Hollis Burford. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jon Poteet of Benton; granddaughters, Jennifer Collins and husband, Chuck of Little Rock and Allison Poteet of Little Rock; great-grandson, Cruz Collins; brother, Learle Burford of Little Rock; and a sister, Jaunice Hennington of Beaumont, Texas.

LUCILLE MCDONALD DICKINSON, 76, of Maumelle, formerly of Searcy, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 25, 2012. She was born August 27, 1935 in Little Dixie, Arkansas. Mrs. Dickinson was a Baptist minister’s wife and homemaker.

Her husband, Dr. Leroy Dickinson and her parents, Arvin and Leola Page McDonald, precede her in death. Survivors include one son, Ronnie Dickinson (Pat) of Oxford, Miss.; two daughters, Debbie Faust (Kenny) of Cabot; Pamela McCurry (Truett) of Maumelle; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

ALENE G. FAULKNER, 88, of Little Rock died July 24, 2012 atBatesville, Arkansas. Born January 11, 1924 in Greensboro, Georgia, she was the daughter of Giles Marvin and Mary Salina Huffstelter Goforth. She attended Holy Springs BaptistChurch, was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and worked for many years for Western Meat Packers. She loved reading, soap operas, dominoes, crocheting and the Senior Citizen’s day camp at Aldersgate.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Faulkner, Jr., son Charles Nathan Faulkner and several brothers and sisters. Survivors are her son, George Faulkner and his wife, Wanda, of Batesville, Arkansas; brothers, Jimmy Goforth and Bill Goforth, both of Clover. S.C.; sisters Eva House of Fort Davis Texas, Ann Williams of Fulton, S.C. and Jean Ray of Clover, S.C.; daughterin-law, Cathy Faulkner; seven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

DOROTHY LYNN MAXWELL KARNES HOWAR, 89, of LittleRock, formerly of Blytheville, passed from this life Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Arkansas Hospice at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Born in Blytheville to Robert and Annie Lloyd Maxwell, she was a sister in a family of 8 and often recalled her early days of working on the Gosnell farm with her other siblings. She was a member of Gosnell Baptist Church in Gosnell, Ark. and a member of Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church in Mountain Brook, Ala., and was always active in church as a leader in WMU. In Mountain Brook she served as Elder and head of the woman’s group.

In 1995 she retired after 50 years of nursing. From her youthful days in the Nurse Corps during WWII, to the time she retired as Director of Nursing from the formerly Chickasawba Hospital in Blytheville, she touched thelives of many families, from the joys of childbirth to the support of those on their final journey.

After retirement she volunteered at the Baptist Hospital in Birmingham for 2 years. Even until the end, she was proud of her nursing career and wished she could still work. When she encountered anyone going to nursing school she would encourage them and tell them what a great career choice they had made. Dorothy encouraged her daughters to get their education and instilled in them a strong work ethic. She demonstrated this by going back to nursing school at Arkansas State University and graduated with an associate’s degree in 1973.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, James T. Karnes in 1993 and John H. Howar in 2012; siblings, Walter Maxwell, Jewel McGhee, James Maxwell, Robert Maxwell, Betty Smith and Mildred Maxwell.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Gaye Lynn Joyner and husband, Louis of Richmond, Va., and Sandra A. Lubin and husband, Aaron of Little Rock, Ark.; granddaughters, Leigh Joyner Exley and husband, Barry of Richmond, Va., and Laura Joyner Wood and husband, Seth of Randleman, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Savannah Lynn Exley, Lawson Maxwell Exley and Zane Patrick Wood; sister, Clarice Maxwell Boles of Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law, Lavonda Karnes Jones; and many nieces, nephews and greats that she loved and cared for.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Eddie Clemons officiating. The earthly journey of FREDDIE WALTON ended July 23, 2012peacefully in his home in North Little Rock. Mr. Walton was born 1938 in Milwood, Ark., to Louise Williams and James Jack Walton, who preceded him death. Mr. Walton was a skilledprofessional over-the-road truck driver who received a commendation from the United States Highway Department for driving over 3 million miles during his career without injury to himself or others. Mr. Walton leaves to honor his memory a dutiful wife of 56 years, Leila Bishop Walton; 11 children; two siblings. ARKADELPHIA - Dale A. Houser, age 93, of Arkadelphia passed from this life July 24, 2012. He was born July 30, 1918, in Royal, Ark., the son of Joel Anderson and Gertrude Queenie Houser. He was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor. He wrote a book about his family called Houser-Chitwood Get-together. He was a Mobil Oil Consignee until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in WWII and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Arkadelphia.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Hazel and three year old grandson Eric Jackson.Survivors include his wife Bernice Houser of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Kay Ellen Jackson of Kansas City, Mo., and Karen Dale Malcom and her husband Allen of Gurdon; two step-sons, Omar (Leah) Wehunt and Joe (Deb) Wehunt; two step daughters, Carolyn Whisenant and Cynthia Stahal; grandchildren, Joe, Kirk, Rheana, and Carl Jackson, Kelli Beene, Terri Borderlaun, Traci LaBeff, and Shea Leon, several great-grandchildren and greatgreat-grandchildren.

BENTON - Norma McAdory Girner, 90, of Benton passed away Tuesday, July 24. She was born March, 7, 1922, in Birmingham, Ala., to the late Dave and Lilly B. Harris. She was a member of Holland Chapel Baptist Church for 44 years, where at one time she served as church secretary. In earlier years she was an active member and supporter of the Saline County Humane Society.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 43 years, Robert McAdory, Sr.; her second husband, John Girner; a son, Richard “Rick” McAdory; and two siblings. Surviving Mrs. Girner are two sons, Robert “Bob” McAdory of Benton and William “Bill” McAdory and wife Ann of Franklin, Ohio. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Debbie McAdory of Benton; and grandchildren, Kael Hudson and husband David, Scott McAdory, KristenPhipps and husband Matt, and Rhiannon Patterson. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren, Megan Hudson, Drew McAdory, Caitlyn Goshien, Willie Goshien, Jr., Cara and Ashlyn Phipps; a sister, Marnesse McAdory of Smithfield, Va.; and many wonderful friends.

CABOT - Robert Van “Bob” Wallace, 59, of Cabot, went towalk with our Lord on Tuesday, July 24, 2012. Robert was born on March 12, 1953, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Francis and Katherine Minton Wallace of England, Arkansas. Robert was an avid hunter and fisherman, often enjoying life at the lake and in the outdoors. He spent many years as a printer and the last few years in sales, at the local hardware store. He was a loving husband, father, and recently a grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Judy Wallace of Cabot; one son, Kyle Wallace and his fiancee Malissa Pennington of Little Rock; one granddaughter, Hadley Ward of Fort Smith; one grandson, Kaden Wallace of Little Rock; and extended family.

PINE BLUFF - Frances Mc-Graw, 72, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas,died Wednesday, July 25, 2012. She was born January 29, 1940, in Pine Bluff, to Dee William and Alma Frances Taylor Hurst. She was reared and educated in Pine Bluff,graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1958, taking part in the Follies and the A Cappella Choir. She had worked 38 years for International Paper retiring as a secretary. She was currently the treasurer for the Quarter Century Society and was involved in the union for many years. She had also served on the Board of Directors at FairField Federal Credit Union and the Insurance Board at JRMC. Mrs. McGraw enjoyed fishing. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lydia Aileen Smith and a son, Mark C. Kelley. Survivors include her husband, O.B. McGraw; sons, James Scott Kelley of Vilonia, Michael D. Kelley of Grapevine; a daughter, Robin Kelley Gunn of Pine Bluff; step-daughter, Paula K. McGraw of Ward; a sister, Phyllis Dee Davis of Pine Bluff; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

ROGERS - M. Roland Bryant, 44, of Rogers, Ark., passed awayFriday, July 20, 2012 at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville. He was born April 10, 1968 in Little Rock, Ark., to Roland Bryant and Rosemary King Bryant.

He graduated from Old Main High School in North Little Rock in 1986, attended Hendrix College and graduated from University of Arkansas-Little Rock with a degree in computer science. He spent several years working for the USGS in Little Rock, Acxiom Corporation in Conway and was currently working with Apex Systems/CompuCom in Bentonville.

Roland enjoyed life. He was very quiet until you got to know him, but really loved being around people. He liked Formula 1 Racing and photography, taking many wonderful photographs, but music was his real passion. He played drums in high school and also played the bass guitar.

He is survived by his wife of the home, Belinda Grigsby; parents, Roland and Rosemary Bryant, of Sherwood, Ark.; two sisters, Paula Richardson, and husband Ricky, of Dallas, Texas, and Diana Staples, of San Antonio, Texas; father-in-law, Royce Grigsby, of Batesville, Ark.; sister-in-law, Beverly Limbert, and husband, Keith, of Grubbs, Ark.; two nieces, Rachel and Rumer Richardson, of Dallas, Texas; and his four beloved cats, Simba, Sasha, Leo and Gus.

ROGERS - Mary G. Scherz, 79, entered into the presence of theLord on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Circle of Life Hospice in Legacy Village, Bentonville, Ark., surrounded by her family following a lengthy illness. Mary was born on September18, 1932 to Col. Glenn and Estelle Harbin in Cullman, Ala. Mary loved decorating, jewelry and art, and served as COO of M Scherz, Inc. She loved the Lord and was involved in Fellowship Bible Church Little Rock and Fellowship Bible Church Northwest Arkansas.

She was married for almost 60 years to Marvin L. Scherz. They were blessed with two children,

a son, Donald “Skip” (Barbara) Scherz and a daughter, Marsha (John) Phillips; four grandchildren, Chris (Amy) Scherz, Laura (Pinky) Jansen, Jonathan (Shayla Turner) Holder and Elliot (Cassie) Holder; and two great-grandchildren, Bently Scherz and Averie Turner. She is also survived by a brother, James Harbin.

SMACKOVER - James “Jim” Murray Tennyson, 83, died Sunday July 22, 2012. He was born February 4, 1929, in Smackover, Ark., to Leon Edwin and Marjorie Snider Tennyson. He grew up in Smackover and attended Smackover Public Schools. Jim was a graduate of Kemper Military Academy and was also a graduate of Hendrix College in 1950 where he was a tailback and punter on the football team. He served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954 and was commissioned Second Lieutenant on May 10, 1952, (also his wedding date). He was a jet fighter pilot flying the F-84 Thunderjet while serving in the 307th Strategic Air Command, during which time he flew in the first mass night refueling mission attempted by the Air Force.

Jim was active in many civic, governmental and business affairs including serving two terms as Chairman of the Arkansas State Police Commission. He also served 51 years on the Board of Directors of Smackover State Bank and was on the Board of Directors of the South Arkansas Medical Center. He was a member of the Republican National Committee and past member of the Smackover School Board and Lions Club. Jim was also AreaVice President for the Independent Petroleum Association.

Jim was a longtime member of First United Methodist in Smackover where he served on the Board of Trustees and Board of Stewards. He was a devoted Christian who truly reflected the Fruit of the Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-control. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather with a kind demeanor and a great sense of humor. Jim and his wife, Fran, loved traveling and playing golf together and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Ann Tennyson Matthews. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Frances Brewer Tennyson; three sons, Timothy A. Tennyson of Smackover, Ark., Charles L. “Chuck” Tennyson and his wife, Carol, of Little Rock, Ark., James Drew Tennyson of El Dorado, Ark.; and four grandchildren, Clark Tennyson (Katie) of Hot Springs, Ark., Claire Tennyson also of Hot Springs, Joshua Tennyson of Little Rock, Ark., and Tess Tennyson of El Dorado, Ark.

Pallbearers will be Harvey Brown, Roland Ponthieux, Edwin Matthews, Clark Tennyson, Joshua Tennyson and Les Warren.Honorary pallbearers include members of the Smackover State Bank Board of Directors. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., Friday, July 27, 2012, at 1302 Dogwood Street, Smackover, Ark. The funeral will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Smackover, Ark., on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at 10 a.m. Interment will be at the Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

COLUMBIA, Md. - David Christopher “Chris” Neaves, 21,of Columbia, Md., passed away suddenly on July 21, 2012 of undetermined causes. His family is comforted by the fact that he knew Christ and is now in the presence and securityof his Heavenly Father. He was born in Lewisville, Texas on June 29, 1991 to Lori and David Neaves of Ellicott City and moved with his family to Maryland in 2006 from Windsor, England. Chris graduated from high school at Chapelgate Christian Academy in Marriottsville and spent a year at Clemson University, in Clemson, South Carolina. He was currently working at Antwerpen Toyota, Clarksville and studying Biochemistry at Howard Community College.

Chris lived a full life during his short time with his family. He lived in Windsor, England for 3 years with his family and attended TASIS American school while there. He loved to snow ski and fly fish at Copper Mountain, Colo. and one of the highlights of his life was when his band played at the Rock and Roll Hotel in Washington, D.C. He had a heart for missions, particularly the children of Guatemala.

Chris is survived by his parents, David and Lori Holman Neaves; and his sister, KatieAnne Neaves all of Ellicott City, Md. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Jack and Elizabeth Holman; and his paternal grandmother, Linda Neaves all of Little Rock, Ark. He is also survived by his aunt Terri Alpe; aunt and uncle, Heather and Todd Richardson and cousins, Nathan LeMay, Lauren LeMay, Joshua LeMay, and Nicholas Richardson; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, John Neaves, formerly of Little Rock, Ark.

Burial will take place at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Ark. on Saturday, July 28, at 10 a.m. Memorials can be made to Mephibosheth Foundation, 1991 Barley Road, Marriottsville, Md. 21104.

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Charles Ray Bogue of Greenville, S.C. diedJuly 14, 2012. He was born on May 31, 1932 in Haileyville, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sue Matlock of Arizona. He is survived by his wife of 12years, Jane Bogue of the home; ex-wife Marynell Bogue of North Little Rock; his son, Charles Ray Bogue II (Kathy) of Virginia; and his daughter, Jeannine Marie Rodgers of Greenville; a sister, Diane Matlock (Skip) of Maplewood, Mo.; a brother, Daniel Bogue of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren Patrick Bogue, Haley Bogue, Isaac Rodgers, Ian Rodgers and Jacob Rodgers, and several nieces and nephews. Charles served as a corpsman in the Navy during the Korean War. After graduating from the University of Missouri, he acted as manager of various chambers of commerce in Kansas, Oklahoma City, Enid, and the Oklahoma State Chamber. He also served 15 years as a project manager for ADED in Little Rock, and as Director of the New Castle/Henry County EconomicDevelopment Corporation in New Castle, Indiana. He later retired from Pepsico of Greenville, S.C. A graveside service was held at Woodlawn Memorial Park, S.C., on Tuesday, July 17.
