PB woman files to run for mayor

— Debe Hollingsworth filed to run for the city’s top job Friday, the first day candidates are allowed to enter contested political races in the city.

The filing period ends at noon Aug. 17.

The mayor serves a four-year term in Pine Bluff.

Hollingsworth’s campaign website notes that she aims to improve Pine Bluff’s image as well as address crime and unemployment issues.

Pine Bluff Mayor Carl Redus has said he plans to seek a third term, having served since 2004, when he became the city’s first black mayor.

Hollingsworth, who has a background in business, is the only person who filed Friday, according to the Jefferson County clerk’s office.
