Adler joins advancement team at Lyon College

— Kenton Adler has been appointed to a new position in Lyon College’s Office of Institutional Advancement. Adler has been with Lyon since 1998 as a member of the Information Services staff. He is also a piper in the pipe band.

Adler will now work with the college’s development team as a prospect research associate and will continue to provide instructional-technology support to the college faculty. In addition, he will perform some duties related to the website.

“I very much appreciate the opportunity to serve the college in a different way,” Adler said of his new position. “I think Lyon is a special place, filled with wonderful people, and my wife and I both love Batesville and hope to be here for a long time to come.”

Director of Advancement Gina Garrett commented on Adler’s new position.

“Kenton is a great addition to our advancement team,” she said. “He is smart, inquisitive and personable — all assets in development work. I am happy that he decided to pursue this opportunity.”

Adler is married to 2012 Lyon College graduate Nancy Love, who is also a member of the pipe band.

Adler is active in the community as a board member of both Main Street Batesville and the Batesville Preservation Association. He is president of the Friends of the Mabee-Simpson Library and is the staff representative to the college board of trustees. He serves as officer-at-large on the Executive Committee of the Southwest Branch of the Eastern U.S. Pipe Band Association. An accomplished songwriter, Adler can sometimes be found playing guitar and singing at a venue in town. He has also published two books in the past year and is working on several writing projects.

When not working, piping or writing, the Adlers may be found walking the campus with their giant Irish Wolfhound, Cuchullain; riding mountain bikes; kayaking; or otherwise taking advantage of the outdoor resources in the region.

Prior to coming to Lyon College, Adler studied history at the University of Arkansas and worked three years for its computer services department.
