LITTLE ROCK — Renny Osuna had three singles and Carlos Ramirez doubled twice, and scored three runs to lift the Arkansas Travelers to a 6-2 victory over the Tulsa Drillers on Saturday night at Oneok Field in Tulsa.
Osuna singled in the first inning, singled and scored in the fifth and hit an RBI single in the eighth to help the Travs to their third consecutive victory, their third such streak since July 16 to improve to 10-3 over that stretch.
A.J. Schugel (6-7) gave up three hits and struck out four to earn his third victory in his past four starts while lowering his ERA to 2.82, its lowest since he pitched five shutout innings in his first start of the season.
Christian Scholl replaced Schugel to start the sixth after the Travs had taken a 5-0 lead.
Travis Witherspoon led off the first with a double off Drillers starter Dan Houston, then scored when Roberto Lopez drew a bases loaded walk to make it 1-0. Ramirez then doubled to lead off the second and scored on Houston’s throwing error after he fielded Angel Castillo’s bunt.
Ramirez, who went 2 for 4 with 3 runs scored, made it 3-0 in the fourth when he doubled to left-center and scored on Darwin Perez’s single.
It became 5-0 in the fifth when Osuna, who went 3 for 5, scored and Paul McAnulty scored on a sacrifice fly by Brian Hernandez. McAnulty went 1 for 4, but his 13-game RBI streak was snapped.
Buddy Boshers allowed Tulsa’s first run in the seventh when Warren Schaeffer singled home Jimmy Cesario, and Lars Davis hit his fifth home run of the season off Caleb Graham in the ninth.
