Saline County launches community smart phone app

The Saline County sheriff's office launched a free smart phone app Monday that provides important news to county residents.

The Saline County sheriff's office app will provide real-time detention center information, lists of most-wanted criminals and non-custodial parents, as well as local breaking news alerts, according to a news release.

“The most beneficial and significant feature of this app is that it lets us get important information right to people’s fingertips," Sheriff Bruce Pennington said in the release.

“We know that more and more people are getting the information they need from their smart phones. We want to make sure we’re using the latest communication technology to keep the public informed, and this app lets us do that.”

The app is available on Android devices and will soon be available for iPhone users, according to the release.
