Bard grant

Arts Midwest, a Minneapolis-based regional arts organization that serves a nine-state region in the Midwest, is giving $25,000 to the Arkansas Repertory Theatre for the Rep’s September production of William Shakespeare’s Henry V.

The grant is one of 42 totaling more than $1 million in 2012-2013 Shakespeare for a New Generation Grants the organization is handing out to nonprofit, professional theater companies in 24 states and the District of Columbia to perform Shakespeare for middle and high school students.

The Rep will use the money to bring in at least 10 schools and possibly more than 1,500 students to student matinee performances of the history play over a three-week run.
