Man found unconscious in pool, dies at UAMS

— A man found unconscious at the bottom of an exercise pool at UAMS Medical Center has been pronounced dead.

According to a UAMS spokesperson, Davis Young, 58, was found unresponsive in an exercise pool by some members of a class that had come back from a break in their workout about 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

The spokesperson said Young was using the walking track in the pool while a class was also using the pool when those participating looked back and discovered the man had gone under. CPR was performed before Young was taken to the emergency room where he was pronounced dead.

The official cause of death is unknown at this time.

The pool is used for exercise and rehabilitation and is located in the UAMS Jack Stephens Spine and Neuroscience Institute building.
