Swedish guitarist to play opera treatment, own works

Swedish guitarist and composer Johannes Moller, winner of the 2010 Guitar Foundation of America’s Concert Artist Competition, will give a recital at 7:30 p.m. today in the Fine Arts Recital Center at Arkansas State University, 2412 Quapaw Way, Jonesboro.

Moller’s program includes Introduction and Variations on a Theme From the Opera Der Freischutz by K.A. Craeyvanger; Lamento-Scherzo by Denis Gougeon (commissioned for the 2010 competition Moller won); and Moller’s own Song to the Mother, A Star in theSky, a Universe Within … and Ananda (Dedicated to Ramakrishnananda Babaji).

Trio and duo

Southern rock-country hip-hop trio Rehab - singers Danny Boone and Demun Jones and DJ Chris Crisis - will perform at 8 p.m. today at Juanita’s, 614 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock. The trio will also be one of several opening acts for Colt Ford on May 12 at the Arkansas Aeroplex in Blytheville.

Also at Juanita’s, Detroit duo Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. will perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 day-of-show.

Tin Roof tales

Playwright and journalist Werner Trieschmann will be the featured storyteller for Tales From the South Tin Roof Project at 7 p.m. today at Starving Artist Cafe, 411 Main St., North Little Rock.

Doors open at 5 p.m. The event will also feature music by Bonnie Montgomery and include dinner, 5-6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 plus the cost of dinner. Seating is limited. Tickets are available at www.talesfromthesouth.com. The show will be taped for broadcast at 7 p.m. March 22 on KUAR-FM, 89.1.

Kugels & Couscous

Cookbook author Joan Nathan, author of Quiches, Kugels and Couscous: My Search for Jewish Cooking in France, will deliver a lecture titled “Jewish Cooking in America” at 7:30 p.m. today in Reves Recital Hall, Trieschmann Fine Arts Building, Hendrix College, 1600 Washington Ave., Conway.
