Butler Center to put on Arkansas music festival

A new music festival will deliver tunes throughout the state this September.

The Butler Center for Arkansas Studies has created the new annual festival, which will have its inaugural event Sept. 28-29.

The festival will highlight Arkansas music past and present, with the goal of getting musicians and songwriters involved in local schools, create songwriting workshops for kids and adults, and host related performances and events throughout the state.

Leading the effort at the Butler Center is John Miller, lead singer of the Big John Miller Band.

"I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to help bring Arkansas music to a wider audience," Miller says. "The purpose of this festival is to focus attention on the rich musical history and tremendous amount of talent that we have in our state."
