LITTLE ROCK — HOT SPOTS

1. LAKE CHICOT Bream are hitting crickets all over the lake. Catfish have been caught on cut bait and worms. Crappie are bedding, and white and black spinnerbaits are working best.

2. LAKE GREESON Bream are biting well on crickets in shallow water. Crappie fishing is excellent in 3-8 feet of water. Bass are being caught 5-10 feet deep on topwaters, crankbaits and plastics. Catfish are being caught upriver on worms. Walleye are being caught on crankbaits and topwater lures upriver. Stripers and white bass fishing are excellent, especially in the evenings using crankbaits and topwaters.

3. LAKE HINKLE Crappie fishing is excellent using minnows and jigs on the south side of the lake. Bass are being caught on minnows and spinnerbaits, and catfish are being caught on worms.

4. LAKE MAUMELLE Largemouth bass fishing is excellent. They are biting jerkbaits, spinnerbaits and soft-plastics cast in shallow water near spawning flats. Spotted bass are excellent on Rooster Tails, wacky-rigged floating worms and jighead worms in 2-5 feet of water. White bass fishing is excellent. Crappie fishing is excellent using small jigs, grubs and minnows in 4-10 feet of water on the edges of creek channels. Bream are biting well on crickets and worms fished 10-15 feet deep. Catfishing is very good on trotlines baited with large minnows and prepared bait.

5. LAKE OUACHITA Largemouth bass fishing is excellent using pig-and-jigs in watermelon seed or black and blue. Stripers are being caught with live bait and by trolling large hair jigs or crankbaits 18-25 feet deep. Alabama rigs are working very well for these fish up river channels and in major creek basins. Bream fishing is fair with most being caught on crickets or worms 20-25 feet deep. Crappie are being caught near and over brush. Tennessee shad and rainbow trout are the best colors for artificial baits. Catfish are being caught on cut bait and live bait on jug lines and trot lines 20-30 feet deep.
