HOPE PHAYE BEASLEY, 60, of Little Rock, departed this life March18, 2012. Hope was a graduate of Horace Mann High School in 1970. She moved to New York City to fulfill a life-long dream. She worked as Driver Manager with Greyhound bus lines, was amaster sewer, sylist and a cosmetologist since 1973.

Preceded in death by her father, Andrew Jackson Phillips; mother, Seatrice Phillips. She leaves to cherish her memory: children, Kyla Knox, Angela Smith, Coffey Sanders (Robert Jr.), Le Andrew Beasley (Brandy) and James Beasley; siblings, Wanda Bunting (William), Ura Phillips, James Phillips, Napolean Phillips (Dorothy), Caroline Garret (Sam) and Earl Phillips (Beverly); 12 grandchildren; other family and friends.

CHARLES VINCENT BROCATO, 65, of North Little Rock passedaway Monday, March 19, 2012. He graduated from Byrd High School in 1964 with a senior letter in baseball and attended Louisiana Tech. He won All-City Center Fielder in 1964 and became a local newspaper celebrity. He was nicknamed “Scoot” by his father because he scooted across the floor in his diapers instead of walking. The newspapers thought the crowd yelled Scoop at the ball games at first and picked up on the nickname Scoot thereafter. He went into the Stud welding fastener supply business and remained in it to date. Charles loved sports and was an absolute devout Cowboy fan. One of his greatest pleasures was watching Cowboy games with his dad. After meeting Wendy, he moved to Arkansas and became a Razorback fan and loved tailgating with his family and friends. Charles loved going to the lake and boating with his family and enjoying his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Wendy Brocato, of North Little Rock; his father, Charles Paul Brocato of Maumelle; two sons, Jeff Brocato, of Tulsa, Okla., and Matt Brocato, of Fort Smith, Ark.; daughter-in-law, Katrina Brocato, of Pocola, Okla.; three stepsons, Brian Skinner and wife, Laura, Eric Skinner and wife, Noele, of North Little Rock and Maurice Skinner and wife Stephanie, of Jeffersonville, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Adrianna, Kaitlyn and Blake Brocato, Emily Claire, Luke, Sam and Mason Skinner; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie “Dee” Brocato and sister, Paula.

JOHN EDMUND BYRD SR., 86, of North Little Rock, Ark., born May 8,1925 in North Little Rock to John and Anna Mae Byrd, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. He was a member of Park Hill Christian Church in North Little Rock. He retired from theNorth Little Rock Electric Department in 1991.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Mae Byrd and a brother, David Byrd. John is survived by his wife, Louise He is also survived by a son, John Edmund Byrd Jr., and wife Martha; his daughter, Patricia Louise Reedy and her husband, Darrel; brothers, Tommy and Wayne Byrd; two grandchildren, Michael Byrd andwife Elizabeth and David Byrd, and two great-grandchildren, Jackson Byrd and Mallory Byrd.

HELEN MARIE GOTHARD GRAY, age 60, of Little Rock, Ark., diedTuesday, March 20, 2012, at St. Vincent’s Hospital. She was born April 17, 1951, in Malvern, Ark. A graduate of Malvern High School in 1969, she earned her degree in accounting with aminor in music from University of Arkansas in Little Rock. Helen was a Certified Public Accountant.

She is survived by her husband, Jon Gray and his daughter Lucy Gray of Little Rock. She is predeceased in death by her loving parents, Homer and Betty Gothard. Helen is now reunited not only with many, many loved ones but also with her pet cat, Pepper and her rather arrogant little dog, Bo.... who are very happy to be with her once again.

She was of the Baptist faith and played the organ and piano for the 3rd Baptist Church in Malvern for many years. She was retired from the Arkansas State Plant Board. Helen was thoughtful, caring,courageous and independent. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

ALBERDENE (HONEY) LITTLE went into the arms of her saviorJesus on March 15, 2012. Beloved mother and friend to three daughters, Carol, Jackie, Dixie, grandma to 23, great-grandma to 20, greatgreat-grandma to six. She was a pillar of her faithand gave her love to those around her and strangers as well. She left this world in the same way she lived with love and grace. She would have been 94 on April 22nd. “Your life and the way you live it may be the only Bible someone may ever read,” is what she always told us. Her light will shine in our hearts forever.

MAX RAYMOND McCOY, 65, of Jacksonville passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012, in Little Rock.He was born December 31, 1946, in Vallejo, California, to the late George and Edith McCoy. He was a United States Air Force veteran, a member of the VFW and the Patriot Guard.

In addition tohis parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Candy Seann Gonzalez. He is survived by his loving wife, Teri McCoy of Jacksonville, son Brian McCoy and wife Allison of Jonesboro, Arkansas, daughters Kim McCoy Leger and husband Jeff, of Seattle, Washington, and Michelle McCoy of Jacksonville, a step-son Tony Howerton of Forrest City, Arkansas, siblings, Beau McCoy of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Carolyn Moeller of Anchorage, Alaska, six grandchildren, and a niece, Christina Quesada, of Viscalia, California.

EDITH MARIE BERRYHILL NASH, age 85, of Little Rock, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012. She was born March 25, 1926, in the Mt. Olive Community of Saline County, Arkansas. Mrs. Nash was a homemaker and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Batesville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Mary Emily Berryhill, four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her husband, Harvey Nash of Little Rock; two sons, John Nash of Bradford and Joe Nash of Alexander; three daughters, Susan Nash of Little Rock, Martha Tanner of Wiseman and Loretta Edington of Little Rock; sister, Jewell White of Danville; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

ANNA MARIE WARRICK, 94 of Little Rock, passed away March 21, 2012, in West Memphis, Arkansas. She was born July 19, 1917, in Little Rock, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Harry Earl Walpole and Anna Othelia Theis-Walpole. Anna was a retired seamstress for Tufnut Garment Manufacturing Company, she was of the Catholif faith.

She is preceded in death by her son Johnnie George Jr. and husband John Warrick. Survivors include her grandchildren, Teresa Owens, Cindy Stotts, Jeana McLeod, Shannon Hitchens, and Tammy Southerland; 14 greatgrandchildren and two daughtersin-law, Phyllis Napier and Glenda George.

AUSTIN - Joe Don Corbishley, 85, of Austin, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012. He was born December 1, 1926 in Russellville, Ark., to the late Jesse Corbishley and Sadie Jones Cothren. Joe was a member of the Church of Christ and member of the Carpenter Union Local #690 for 62 years. He loved country music and was an accomplished guitar player, playing and singing country music for over 60 years.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, Ava Mae Rees Corbishley on March 17, 1988, his second wife, Mary Agnes Wood Corbishley on December 19, 2011, three brothers, Glen, Paul and Raymond Corbishley, and two sisters, Minnie Morgan and Helen Dye. He is survived by his four children, Karen Higgs and her husband, Randy of Conway, Ronnie Corbishley of Austin, Orvil Corbishley and his wife, Debbie of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Jan Cooper and her husband, Tom of Austin; one sister, BeatriceStenson of Mabelvale; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren with two more on their way.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, March 23, 2012 in the Chapel of Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Kellerman officiating. BATESVILLE - Bobby Hill, 75, of Batesville died Tuesday, March20, 2012 at his residence. He was born November 5, 1936 in Cushman and was the son of Fredrick Newton Hill and Walcie Ann (Cowden) Hill. He was a 1954 graduate of Cushman HighSchool where he was also president of the senior class. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve.

He was a building contractor in and around the Independence County area for over 30 years.Bobby’s true passion was sports. He was a high school and college basketball referee and baseball umpire for 40 years. He officiated over 4,000 basketball games and hundreds of baseball games.

In 1997 he was inducted into the Arkansas Officials Association Hall of Fame. In 2010 he was inducted into the Batesville Area Hall of Fame. For 23 years he was a District 2 Commissioner for the Arkansas Officials Association and also a three-time president of the AOA. He was a member of the Desha Church of Christ.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Birdie Blue Hill, of Batesville; two sons, Greg Hill and wife, Lisa of Conway, Britt Hill and wife, Gina, of Fayetteville; stepson, Mike Blue and wife, Shawn, of Batesville; stepdaughters, Michelle Varela of Batesville and Missy Rosson and husband, Kevin, of Dublin, Ga.; 11 grandchildren, Morgan, Abby, Matthew, Chloe, Luke, Jacob, Madison, Stephanie, Bradley, Jordan and Bryan; two great-grandchildren, Dawson and Quentin; and manynieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Roller-Crouch Chapel with Craig Wilson and Bill Willard officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Cushman by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Pallbearers will be Chris Hill, Donald Hill, Billy Wayne Hill, Joey Hill, Dicky Hamilton, Jerry Hamilton, and David Hamilton. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Hill, Charles Webb, John Nail, Dr. Robert Walton, and Billy Cullum.

Mr. Stephens was the owner/operator of Stephens Ford of Fordyce for over 43 years. He was the past cub master of Boy Scouts of Fordyce, a member of NADA, AADA, where he served on the board of directors, Union Life Insurance Company, where he served on the board of directors, the Fordyce School Board, & the A-Z Investment Club.

Mr. Stephens is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bettie Stephens, three sons, Vance Stephens, Lee Stephens & wife Sheila, & Steve Stephens & wife Julia, all of Fordyce, Ark.; a brother, L.J. HAZEN - Bobbye Elizabeth Parker 81, was born August 30, 1930 in Hazen, Arkansas to John and Ruth Minton. She passed away peacefully at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas on March 10, 2012. Bobbye and John Parker were married in 1949 and later divorced in 1981. Bobbye and John were instrumental in establishing the Rainbow Girls organization in Topeka. She sold real estate in Topeka for many years for Century 21 and then Greenbrier.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister. Bobbye is survived by four daughters, Connie Haybarker (Brian), Carol McFadden, Vickie Paker-boos (Clem)and youngest daughter, Heather Parker (Greg) and son Mike Parker. She also left behind 10 grandkids, two greatgrandkids and last but not least, her loyal companion, Brutus, her dog.

Her tenacity for life and her willingness to fight to live another day was an inspiration to all that knew her well. She will be greatly missed.

HEBER SPRINGS - Delbert Le-Roy Hooten of Heber Springs entered into eternity on March 20, 2012 from his home on Grace Mtn. Ranch in Heber Springs, Ark. He was the son of the late Jess B. and Cora (Dooley) Hooten. He was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Delbert was a friendly, loving, outgoing person who never met a stranger.

He is survived by two brothers, Johnny Lee of Texas and James Lee of Conway; one sister, Katy Gunnett of Hopewell; three sons, Delane, Gary, and J.R. Hooten; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of Cleburne County; several other family members and lots of friends that will miss him dearly.

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. - Altha Elizabeth “Bess” Peters, age92, a resident of Midlothian, Virginia, since 2007, died Monday, March 19, 2012. She was born on November 2, 1919, in Garland County to the late Frederick and Effie Orr Byrum.

Living most of her life in Central Arkansas, she grew up in Hot Springs, attended high school in Little Rock, and graduated from Ouachita Baptist University.

In June of 1941, she married Dr. C.F. “Pete” Peters. They moved to Malvern in 1946 to establish a medical practice and raise a family. Bess was a wonderful and generous wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, and friend. She was a talented singer, artist and musician; a gracious hostess; a creative cook, gardener and decorator; a world traveler.

For 60 years, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Malvern, and its choir, where she helped found the Silver Belles Chorus that performed for church and non-profit groups throughout the area. After her move to Virginia, she studied watercolor painting, exhibited in art shows, and donated herwork for YMCA fundraisers.

Bess faced all of life’s joys and challenges with an indomitable spirit. She rarely met a stranger, and treated everyone with dignity and respect. She inspired all who knew her by her love of life, her enthusiasm, and her nevergive-up attitude. Bess and Pete’s son, Steve Peters, was killed in Vietnam in 1967.

Bess is survived by her two daughters and their families: Pat and her husband, Bill Walters, and their son, Allan Walters and his wife Marcia Eugenio, and their two daughters, Gracie and Sabrina; and her daughter, Tracy Shea and her husband, Danny, and their two daughters, Riley and Madeline; Jan and her husband, Don Wood, their daughter Erin Wood and their daughter, Lauren Wood and her fiance, Brett Mortensen.

A visitation will be held on Friday evening, March 23, 2012, from 6 until 8 p.m. at J.A. Funk Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hot Springs followed by a public memorial service beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, with Brother Tyler Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends in the church’s Family Life Center following the memorial service.

Bess showed us all how to live a rich and full life. We love her and will miss her. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to First Baptist Church or Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Online condolences may be sent via jafunkfuneralhome.com.
