Man arrested after TV news crew encounter

— A TV crew from Memphis investigating a man's suspicious death was threatened by gunpoint to leave his home, according to multiple news reports.

CBS-affiliate WREG reporter April Thompson and her photographer were about 36 miles northwest of Memphis in Joiner, hoping to get some answers about the death of an elderly man, Wilton Goudeaux II, who was in the care of family members and others.

While they were on the scene, a friend of Goudeaux's son arrived in his truck and demanded the crew stop filming and leave the property.

According to the reports, the man, later identified as Brandon Odom, shoved the camera and when told he could not touch the camera, retrieved a gun from his vehicle and said, "I bet I can do this."

The crew then left the scene and filed a report with the Mississippi County sheriff's office. Odom was later arrested and faces a felony charge of aggravated assault, according to the reports.
