HOT SPRINGS — Hot Springs National Park said motorists on West Mountain Road should expect delays starting Monday, when contractors will start preliminary work on Summit Road and the entire length of the road from Whittington to Prospect avenues.
Crews under contract with the Federal Highway Administration will start preparing the roads and at times will require temporary lane closures as they prepare for the construction work, which is to begin in April.
The project on Summit and West Mountain roads includes milling, repaving and installing new guardrails and traffic signs.
The roads may be closed during some phases of the work. Federal Highway Administration engineers estimate the work will be completed by June 30.
