House Agriculture Committee to hold Arkansas hearing

Rep. Rick Crawford will host the House Agriculture Committee as it holds a 2012 Farm Bill Field Hearing in Jonesboro.

Crawford announced Monday that the hearing will be held Friday at Arkansas State University’s Fowler Center. House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas of Oklahoma and other members will be on hand.

Crawford says the hearing is one of only four field hearings and will provide an opportunity to ensure the new Farm Bill protects rural communities and the viability of agriculture in the South. Arkansas is a major producer of rice, poultry and timber.

According to the committee website, field hearings already have been held in Illinois and New York, and another is set for Kansas in April.

The hearings are open to the public and the media.
