Salvation Army closing Geyer Springs thrift store

The Salvation Army Thrift Store at Geyer Springs and 65th Street in Little Rock will close at the end of this month.

The condition of the building as well as the location, in a more industrial setting, prompted the Salvation Army to close shop there after more than 40 years.

The Salvation Army is seeking a new location but hasn't had any luck.

"We are very disappointed to close the store,” said Major James Taylor, Central Arkansas Area Commander for The Salvation Army. “This store provides a valuable service to those in need in our community and the bottom line is that those needs aren’t going to go away.

Taylor said the Salvation Army would continue to serve the community with free clothing through community collaborations, including a partnership with Goodwill Industries of Arkansas.

The store closes at the end of business on March 31.
