HUD awards $181,750 to Arkansas for homeless vets

The Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded $181,750 to two public housing agencies in Arkansas to supply permanent housing and case management services for 100 homeless veterans in the state.

HUD officials said Tuesday that brings to 285 the number of vouchers Arkansas has received for the veterans.

Officials say the North Little Rock Housing Authority will receive $95,930 in funding and $85,820 will go to the Fayetteville Housing Authority.

The agency’s Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing Program is providing the permanent supportive housing assistance, which is administered through HUD, the Department of Veterans Affairs and local public housing agencies.

Veterans participating in the program rent privately owned housing and generally contribute no more than 30 percent of their income toward rent.
