RECALL ALERTS

The United States Department of Agriculture now offers location-specific recall alerts via Twitter. Until recently the alerts were part of the agency’s general Twitter feed.

The state-specific foodsafety alerts will include meat, poultry, and processed egg products, as well as information on how to protect food during severe weather.

The alerts can be followed by listing your state’s two-letter designation underscore, then FSISAlert.

Arkansas, for example, is AR_FSISALERT and Missouri is MO_FSISALERT.

To view the Arkansas recall alert page without a Twitter account, visit twitter.

com/#!/AR_FSISALERT.

The agency also offers email and text message alerts. For more information, visit www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls.
