Nobel physicist plans UALR talk

— Nobel laureate David Gross will lecture on physics at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock on April 12.

In the 4 p.m. lecture in Dickinson Hall Auditorium, Gross will present “The Frontiers of Fundamental Physics,” in which he will describe some of the questions that scientists ask and some of the proposed answers.

He also will discuss what itmight mean to have a final theory of fundamental physics.

Gross won the 2004 Nobel Prize in physics with two colleagues. The award recognized the key discovery that explained how quarks are bound together to form protons and neutrons.

Gross is a professor of physics and director of the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
