LITTLE ROCK — The Mega Millions is definitely living up to its name.
According to a release from the Arkansas Lottery Commission, the estimated prize will be $640 million for tonight's drawing.
The release also states the stipulations surrounding the winnings should the winning ticket be purchased in Arkansas, one of those being that $50,000 goes to the retailer who sold the ticket.
Among other parameters, 7-percent will go to state income tax coffers ($44.8 million) and 35-percent of all Mega Millions sales go to scholarships. So far that count is up to as much as $2 million so far from the state.
In another unique twist, the lottery commission is hearing stories of people in Mississippi driving across the border into Arkansas to purchase a ticket. Mississippi has no lottery.
The winning numbers will be announced at 10 p.m. CST tonight.
