A man who robbed a Little Rock cell-phone store Thursday afternoon was briefly locked in a back room of the business before kicking the door open and asking for directions to escape, police said.

About 5:45 p.m., an armed man walked into the Loco Wireless store at 5301 W. 65th St. and jumped over the counter. He put a handgun to the head of employee Lavier Panuco, 21, and took money from the cash register, an incident report states.

The gunman then tried to pull Panuco into a back room, but she refused to go, the report states. When he tried to flee through a door which lead to a back room, Panuco locked the door behind him.

The gunman eventually kicked the door open and “asked which direction to go to get out of the business,” the report states. Panuco told the man to leave and he fled, the report says.

The gunman was described as black, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 130 pounds. He wore a blue shirt, black pants and a white hat, which he dropped at the store and was recovered by police.

NLR man arrested in rape of girl, 14

A North Little Rock man was arrested Thursday after police say he raped a 14-year-old relative.

Ira Ronald Mullins, 33, of 2115 W. Short 17th St. was arrested at noon Thursday and charged with one count of rape after he “admitted to performing oral sex” on the girl, a North Little Rock arrest report states.

About 9 a.m. March 12, the girl told a school resource officer that Mullins had raped her in the early morning hours at her home. She said he knocked on her bedroom window between midnight and 1 a.m. and asked her to let him in the house, an incident report states.

The girl said Mullins followed her to her bedroom and got in her bed, the report states. Mullins began kissing the girl, who told him to stop, and he put his hand over her mouth and told her to be quiet, the report states.

The girl was then raped, and she went to her mother’s room after the attack. The girl told police she did not immediately tell her mother of the incident because she was worried her mother “would hurt him real bad,” the report states.

Mullins was being held Friday night at the Pulaski County jail. Bail had not been set.

Wife, 11-year-old menaced with gun

A Little Rock man was arrested Thursday evening after police said he pulled a gun on his wife and their 11-year-old earlier in the day.

Scottie Manning, 27, of 824 Valmar St. was charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault against afamily or household member, as well as violation of a protection order, also a felony.

According to Little Rock detectives, Manning’s wife had an order of protection against him, which he broke when he pulled up outside her home on Frontier Drive shortly after 5:38 p.m.

Arrest affidavits said Manning pulled out a silver handgun and pointed it at her and their son and told them he would kill them.

He hopped back in his vehicle and sped down the residential street, nearly hitting some neighborhood children who were riding their bikes in the street, and stopped at Southwest Drive, the affidavit said.

Manning stepped out of the car and fired five to six shots in his wife and son’s direction, the affidavit said, before driving off again.

Manning was being held Friday night at the Pulaski County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

NLR man charged in wife’s stabbing

A North Little Rock man was charged with first-degree battery after police said he stabbed his wife early Thursday afternoon.

Officers went to Silver City Courts at 701 W. 18th St. about 1:41 p.m. and found Quida Nation, 49, who had “multiple lacerations” on her hands, arms and chest, according to police reports.

Her husband, Tommy Strange, 43, was arrested after Nation told police he attacked her with a knife.

Nation was taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, but police did not have an update on her condition Friday afternoon.

Police later took Strange to the hospital for complaints of chest pains. He was treated and then taken to the Pulaski County jail, where he remained early Friday night. Bail had not been set.
