GRUBBS — Authorities sent the body of a man found near Grubbs on Monday to the state Crime Laboratory to determine the cause of death, Jackson County Sheriff David Lucas said.
The sheriff said a passer-by saw the decomposing body lying in a ditch along a farm road on the edge of Grubbs at about 9:45 a.m. Monday.
Police identified the body as that of James Eugene Moore, 46, of Grubbs. Moore was last seen Saturday morning, Lucas said.
Lucas said he would wait until medical examiners conduct an autopsy before considering the possibility of homicide.
