Little Rock has chosen the Mahlon A. Martin Employee of the Year from three finalists.

Teens can get feel of texting, driving

AT&T will sponsor a driving simulator at the River Market District on Tuesday to teach teenagers about the dangers of texting and driving.

On a nationwide tour, the virtual-reality simulator has made 30 stops so far and will make one of its last stops in Little Rock.

The simulator will be available 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. between the two pavilions during the Farmers Market. Officials from the Arkansas Coalition Against Texting While Driving will visit the site about 10 a.m.

The coalition has identified the 100 days between Memorial Day and Labor Day as the deadliest period for teen drivers.

The simulator is a computerized system placed inside a real car that remains parked.

Drivers get instant feedback on how texting can affect their performance.

The first 300 people to try the simulator will get a gift certificate for a free milkshake and participants also will be entered into a drawing for a hands-free Bluetooth device.
