Arrest made in lottery ticket thefts

— Police have arrested an employee of a Little Rock gas station where partially-scratched lottery tickets were being sold, authorities said.

Alfred Walker, 31, is facing a charge of theft of property.

According to information released by the Little Rock Police Department, officials were called to the Raceway gas station at 6425 S. University Ave. after a complaint from a customer who said his Arkansas Millionaire's Club scratch-off ticket had already been partially scratched.

Police say Walker was the only person with access to the locked bin where tickets were kept before being sold. According to a police report, Walker was also responsible for taking a daily inventory and that he on April 23 "falsely recorded" the number of lottery tickets in the bin, writing there were 174 when only 102 were in it.

The arrest comes after a lawsuit was filed by a man who bought two of the partially-scratched tickets. The suit names as defendants the lottery commission and other agency officials and alleges that the tickets are flawed.
