— OLIVE OIL TASTING

Peter Kaldes will conduct an olive oil and tomato sauce tasting from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at The Savory Pantry, 214 Central Ave., Hot Springs.

Kaldes is co-founder of Kaldes Brothers Trading Company, makers of all-natural Kaldi Extra Virgin Olive Oils and Kaldi Tomato Sauces.

The tasting is free and open to the public. The tasting will also include demonstrations of the many uses for the olive oils and tomato sauces.

DUTCH OVEN WORKSHOP

Plantation Agriculture Museum will present a Dutch oven cooking workshop 9 a.m. -1 p.m. June 16 at the park in Scott. The workshop will include stories of the Dutch oven, tips for seasoning and care, and hands-on experience using a Dutch oven to make homemade cornbread, chicken and dumplings and apple cobbler. CHEF SERIES

The Little Rock Farmers Market in the River Market District is hosting a Garden Gourmet Second Saturday chef series, focused on connecting local growers, chefs and consumers. Each month chefs will demonstrate their use of fresh, local ingredients.

The demonstrations are 9-10 a.m. June 9 (tomatoes or green beans and berries); July 14 (purple-hull peas or sweet corn and peaches); Aug. 11 (summer squash and melons); Sept. 8 (okra or peppers and apples); Oct. 13 (sweet potatoes or winter squash and pumpkin).

RECIPE CONTEST

Southern Living is accepting entries in its second annual White Cake Cover Contest through June 30. The winner’s recipe will grace the cover of the December issue of Southern Living and the winner will receive $1,000 and a trip to Southern Living’s editorial headquarters and test kitchen in Birmingham, Ala.
