LITTLE ROCK — How do you entertain 43 diplomats and their spouses from five continents? In Arkansas, with a down-home barbecue at the Governor’s Mansion.
Gov. Mike Beebe and his wife, Ginger, opened their doors to the diplomats for an Oct. 22 dinner on the grounds. The diplomats were in Little Rock as part of a State Department tour of America. The group enjoyed cocktails while experiencing artisan craft stations set up throughout the lawn. Members of the Ozark Folk Center performed.
Next, the diplomats dined on an Arkansas-inspired menu of brisket, chicken, salmon, turnip greens and black-eyed pea salad. Runaway Planet performed during dinner.
For mementos of the evening, the diplomats were given Arkansas Traveler certificates as they departed.
