A TOAST TO SHELL

Honoree pledges $100,000 to World Services for Blind

— Bob Shell was the man of the hour Oct. 31 at a luncheon held in his honor by World Services for the Blind.

Shell, president of Baldwin & Shell Construction Co., and his wife, Ginny, are longtime philanthropists. The Shells were joined at the luncheon by their daughter Cathy Gammill and her husband, Terral.

At the event, held at the Doubletree Hotel, Shell made a $100,000 matching pledge gift to the organization.

World Services for the Blind, previously known at Lions World Services for the Blind, was founded in 1947 to serve blind or visually impaired people who need to learn independent living skills or job training skills tailored to the special requirements of their individual visual impairments. Since then, the organization has served more than 12,000 people from 58 countries and all 50 states.
