— A year ago, Donny Moore was in rough shape.

The Springdale florist was attacked and mauled by a pit bull the day before Thanksgiving last year in Hot Springs and needed multiple facial reconstruction surgeries.

Moore told The Sentinel-Record that he was unable to eat normally for months. He said he didn’t get to eat much during Thanksgiving and Christmas during 2011. By the beginning of 2012, Moore said he was able to chew normally and he’s looking forward to the coming holidays, though he had to declare bankruptcy because of his condition.

The owner of the dog was ordered to pay fines and restitution and Moore said his bankruptcy proceedings are nearly complete.
