Theft of copper foiled, police say

— Pulaski County authorities arrested a man Tuesday in the attempted theft of copper from a North Little Rock rental property.

Gerald Tayborn, 52, of Little Rock, was charged with breaking and entering into an empty rental property at 3510 Arkansas 161, after he told the property owner he took copper from there, authorities said.

About 2:40 p.m., the property owner was told a water faucet outside the empty property was seen moving, and when the owner arrived he saw Tayborn leaving and confronted him, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Tayborn at the scrap yard, and he returned three pieces of 2-foot-long copper pipe to the owner, police said.

He remained at the Pulaski County jail Wednesday.
