LITTLE ROCK — A Greenwood man was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison Monday on charges that he used his computer to produce or to attempt to produce sexually explicit images of two girls, ages 14 and 15 at the time of the offense, and that he downloaded child pornography from the Internet.
The case involving 45-year-old Judson Morrow was first brought to the attention of the Fort Smith Police Department by an acquaintance of Morrow’s who said he saw child pornography on Morrow’s computer.
Fort Smith police searched Morrow’s home Dec. 19, 2011. An examination of Morrow’s computers showed he was downloading child pornography using a peer-to-peer program, which allows users with similar interests to share computer files.
The nature of the charges warranted prosecution in federal court, and Morrow was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge P.K. Holmes in Fort Smith.
There is no parole in the federal court system. Morrow also received 10 years of supervised release once he has served his sentence.
“This office will remain vigilant in its prosecution of crimes against children,” Conner Eldridge, U.S. attorney for the Western District of Arkansas said in a release distributed Monday. “This case is an example of the fact that when individuals break laws that victimize children, they will be caught and they will be brought to justice.”
Morrow was originally indicted on 15 counts related to child pornography April 10. He pleaded guilty to three counts June 21.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Candace Taylor prosecuted the case.
