— Police: Woman left

baby home alone

A North Little Rock woman is accused of leaving an 11-month-old child locked in a room for at least an hour Thursday while she went to the liquor store and her mother’s home, police said.

Amy McIntosh, 30, was arrested late Thursday and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and obstruction of government operations, police said. McIntosh was being held Friday night at the Pulaski County jail in lieu of a $1,000 bond.

Officers were called Thursday night to 2722 E. Lincoln Ave. on a report of an abandoned child and met with McIntosh and Christopher Pervis.

Pervis said he had heard a child crying inside a room of the house and when he learned no one was at home, kicked in the door to reach the child. Inside, he found an infant on the floor with blood on its nose, covered in dried food and wearing a dirty diaper, reports said. He then called police.

McIntosh told officers she left the baby on a bed in the locked room for an hour Thursday night while she went to her mother’s home and to the liquor store. She said she left a man named Pedro in charge of the child, but she did not know his last name. He was not at thehome when police arrived.

McIntosh initially gave officers a false Social Security number and birth date, but police later found her Arkansas identification card, reports said.

The Arkansas Department of Human Services took custody of the child, police said.
