Arkansas, Central Arkansas in tournament field

Arkansas and Central Arkansas were each included in the NCAA Tournament field that was announced Sunday.

Arkansas, which earned an at-large bid, is in the tournament for the first time in six years and will play Wichita State a 4 p.m. Friday in Lawrence, Kan. The Razorbacks (22-9), who are unseeded, will play in a subregion that includes No. 11 seed Kansas and Cleveland State.

If Arkansas wins Friday, it will play either Kansas or Cleveland State at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Central Arkansas (30-4), which won the Southland Conference Tournament, will make its first NCAA Tournament at 9 p.m. Friday against No. 13 seed Washington in Seattle.

If the Sugar Bears win, they’ll play either Santa Clara or Hawaii at 9 p.m. Saturday.

BASKETBALL

Hendrix rallies for victory

The Hendrix men’s basketball team came back from a seven-point halftime deficit to beat Blackburn College 72-67 on Sunday in Memphis. The Warriors (2-3) shot 60 percent from the floor in the second half, led by Dayton Sheridian’s 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Blackburn (1-4) went on a 22-4 run to take a 34-25 lead with 1:55 left in the first half and led 35-28 at halftime, but Hendrix started the second half on a 16-2 run.

Jaren Riley added 14 points for the Warriors, Colton Primm had 11 points and six rebounds and Nathan McCubbin added 10 points.

Hendrix women fall in Ohio

The Hendrix College women’s basketball team was held to 28 percent shooting in a 72-56 loss to Cincinnati Clermont College on Sunday in Wilmington, Ohio.

Hendrix trailed the entire second half and by as many as 22 points.

Caitlin Krisel-Bigler scored a season-high 17 points and had four rebounds and two assists for the Warriors (0-5).

Harding women top St. Edwards

Shana Holmes scored 15 points to lead four Harding players who scored 10 points or more and the Lady Bisons beat St. Edwards 74-61 on Sunday in Austin, Texas.

Arielle Saunders added 14 points, Lauren Crenshaw had 11 and Montana Lewis scored 10 for the Lady Bisons (2-2), who shot 56.9 percent. St. Edward’s (3-3) was led by Dawn Kiel’s 19 points.
