Little Rock police said in a news release Wednesday that Dettrus Johnson, 30, was driving a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle south on North Mississippi Street near Patricia Lane about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe pulled in front of him to make a left turn.

Johnson tried to lay the motorcycle down but hit the back, left side of the SUV, driven by James Gee, 72, of Little Rock, Little Rock and state police reports show. Gee told officers he saw Johnson lying in the street and not moving, the Little Rock report said.

An ambulance took Johnson to UAMS Medical Center where he died about three hours later, Little Rock police said.

Pulaski County prosecutors will review the case, Little Rock police spokesman Sgt. Cassandra Davis said in a release.
