Senate race ads focus on Medicare, Obamacare, debt

By The Associated Press

This article was published October 7, 2012 at 9:54 a.m.

— For critical Senate races, Republicans are turning to the playbook that served them so well in the 2010 elections. They’re saturating the airwaves with political ads detailing the perils of “Obamacare” and the nation’s growing debt.

Democrats have added Medicare to the equation. They’re trying to make the case that revamping the government health care program for older people would virtually destroy it.

As the Nov. 6 election fast approaches, political strategists and ad writers are pointing to what they believe this year’s vote is about: defending Medicare, creating jobs and standing up to powerful interest, whether it’s Big Oil, big banks or big Washington.

Each state has distinct differences that shape the messages of each race.

what about Arkansasans? this is a critical election for those concerned about Medicare and social security as our state is at risk more than other states as social security accounts for 70 % of income for an average state resident age 65 and over.!!! we can not survive if the repuclicans the party of vulchers and vouchers are elected! also the poor will suffer inhumanly in arkansas. If you are a middle class resident and you need to depend on the ss you paid into and the medicare you earned, then you best vote for Obama. but if you do NOT need those middle class entitlement, then go ahead and vote for the Romney/Ryan plan. or if you have anyone in your family who will need those programs. as the R people are eyeing that gold pot of money to balance the tax breaks for the wealthy cooperations, the wealthy, and more military contracts. it has to come from medicare or it doesn't add up. Arkansas can see the aarp broadcast on the issues oct. 26 at 6:30.
