LITTLE ROCK — A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday when he was struck by a sport utility vehicle in Lonoke County, authorities said.
According to a preliminary Arkansas State Police report, 73-year-old George Wilson was riding a 2011 Yamaha motorcycle south on Arkansas 31 North in Austin when a northbound 2005 Ford Expedition "failed to yield" and struck the left side of the motorcycle. It wasn't clear from the report whether the SUV was turning or if the collision was caused by another reason.
The accident happened about 3:50 p.m. at Indian Point Road.
The Expedition driver, identified as Preston Billings, 31, of Ward, was not injured.
Wilson was the 407th person to die in a traffic accident in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
