Pulaski County lieutenant charged with felony resigns

— A Pulaski County sheriff's deputy charged with felony criminal mischief in Garland County has resigned, officials confirmed Wednesday.

Lt. Carl Minden said Lt. Corey Lawson submitted a written resignation Tuesday.

Lawson is accused of using a vehicle to ram down a gate at Brady Mountain Resort on July 6. The incident occurred after an argument with his girlfriend, investigators have said.

Lawson was suspended from the sheriff's office for a month and was later relegated to administrative duties while the criminal case proceeded.

Lawson, who was formally booked on the felony charge earlier this month, has reportedly agreed to pay for the damage to the gate, which was valued at $15,000.

Minden said no one "to [his] knowledge" had asked Lawson to resign.
